Read this article in the NY Times. It details a number of stories of men whose wives, girlfriends and lovers who had cheated on them with another man. When this woman gave birth, the wrong father (usually the husband) signed the birth certificate claiming they were the father, and they were wrong. Now, these men have to pay child support to a child that aren't even theirs. That is tantamount to slavery according to this Boss, and Bosses aren't slaves.
If your woman doesn't want a paternity test, then you really need to consider ending your relationship with this person. After all, why should she feel nervous if there's nothing to hide? In the words of former US President Ronald Reagan, trust, but verify.
I broached the topic with my significant other in the event that a child is conceived, and while the idea is unnerving, a paternity test is
The peace of mind is worth the drama. Demand a paternity test, or hit the bricks..

My Fiancée is being induced tomorrow, and I have absolutely no reason to request a paternity test, its my doing and I know it 100%
ReplyDeleteFor those who are not 100% sure though, it never hurts to get one done, and YES the womans going to give you total hell for asking, but its worth the shit storm in the short run instead of getting fucked in the long run.
Ciriis,
ReplyDeleteCongratualtions! Get the paternity test anyway. This goes also for people who are 100% sure.
@ciriis congrats!!
ReplyDeletefunny blog to read ;)
Yeah, I see what you're saying, but if you're in a relationship where you question our trust for the other person, I think it's better that you question the relationship itself. Paying child support for someone else's child is really bad, but paying child support for your own isn't exactly nice either.
ReplyDeleteTrust, but verify is an awesome saying. I like that. Good call on not trusting the bitties.

thanks for the heads up, and congrats Ciriis : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advise, I'll keep it in mind.
ReplyDeleteneat advise, but it should be a no brainer to most people.
ReplyDeletePaternity checks should be included when they do the baby's health checkup imo. It would just make everything a lot less awkward and more commonplace.
ReplyDeleteThis is why its good to get your balls snipped so you cant have kids then you know when she is cheating.
ReplyDeleteI was surfing your blog and even though im not a parent... it reminded me of the time that my girlfriend had to take a pregnancy test. Thanks now the nightmares are gonna come back.
ReplyDeleteHow to Hack Life.
Are you for real? "why should she feel nervous if there's nothing to hide?"
ReplyDeleteIt's like asking you for a background check to see if you are a sex offender or a rapist, or to see if your family are drug dealers.
This lack of faith is not the best way to start a relationship.
Patti,
ReplyDeleteNearly every job in America requires a background check in order to find out, literally, if you're a rapist or sex offender. I think is reasonable. And I would hope you're past the "start a relationship." Phase once you conceive a child.
Like I wrote, its a tough ask, but its worth the peace of mind and being free from financial slavery.
With the amount of crap that happens nowadays, im definately going to ask for one when the time comes. Must be hard for the guy in the article.
ReplyDeleteGood posts, keep em coming!

Good advice, I have to say. Although bound to annoy the girl, since it shows her you don't completely trust her.
ReplyDeleteI hope I don't need it in the future! BE FAITHFUL PLEASE! :|
